Who or what are you waiting for?

It’s a strange, yet common, phenomenon that when we decide to make a change, we look to find a time to make it happen. It could be that we wait until January, or when the kids go back to school. It seems that many of us are hard-wired to simply ‘put it off’, when in actual fact there’s nothing stopping us from making that change now.

And then there are others who have a secret desire to live a better life which only comes to the surface when things start to go wrong.

What makes January so special anyway? Who decreed that this is the time to make plans and resolutions? I’m all for making plans and implementing changes to continually improve, but I feel frustrated that there are so many unnecessary reasons and obstacles that stop us from making changes at a time to suit us.

Did you know that out of all the months, most resignation letters are written in January too. Most likely because people have had time to reflect on what is important to them during the Christmas break.

There are 12 months in the year – the start of the year should not dictate when you decide to make a promise to yourself. It’s easy to slip into a ‘I’ll wait until …’ kind of mindset, but these thoughts will only hold you back.

“What if waiting for something bad to happen or experiencing a complete change in our circumstances didn’t have to be the catalyst for living the life we really want?

What is stopping you live the life you want right now?”
