Tips to help you cope with the uncertainty
Being plunged into uncertainty feels uncomfortable. It can trigger feelings of fear. Our minds can go into overdrive forcing us to think through every possible eventuality – including every worst-case scenario imaginable. This is overwhelming and very draining.
Questions will spin around in your brain, some you can answer, some you can’t. These thoughts can quite often keep us awake at night too.
I think most people can relate to this, so you’re not alone!
When we can’t control what is going on around us, we are at risk of feeling anxious and stressed which prevents us finding clarity and ultimately holds us back. The fear of the unknown is a huge obstacle to overcome.
Here are 7 strategies to help you during times of uncertainty which I hope you’ll embrace and get back control.
Focus on what you can control
Let go of the things that you can’t control.
Spend time getting organised. Put everything you need to do on a list.
Keep talking to people about how you’re feeling.
Find joy in your immediate surroundings by living in the moment.
Be kind to yourself. Take note of how you talk to yourself.
Plan ways to prevent the things you fear most in your live from happening. Then think of what you can do should they happen. You’ll find that for every worst-case scenario there are several outcomes to make it better
Remember that uncertainty brings out opportunity.
